Are your habits holding you back from financial success?
Financial success is actually one decision away. If you think about it, success is only a series of decisions.
Unfortunately, people don’t think for themselves, they just do things out of habit.
I discovered that most of the time I was not even aware of what I was doing from moment to moment? I discovered that all day long I do things that are actually habits. I rarely made decisions, just habits all day long. I had to ask myself how often during the day do I really make a decision? I was just doing the thing without thinking about it, without really being present. So am I really heading towards financial success if I am not making any decisions? No. Decisions take you either toward your financial success or away from it.
So what I realized is that by my not making decisions I am not moving forward, nor am I gaining any experience in decision making. It is said in the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill that to make decisions quickly and change your mind slowly is actually the best way to go about achieving financial success. What I understand from this ideal, is that most of us have to “think about” before we act. And then...after we have heard or discussed with others we decide not to do it. Not to take the risk. Play it safe. Or if we do act, we let others change our minds quickly and do not hold onto our own true desire. We let others take us out!
I for instance would ask others for their opinion, but ultimately I have to decide on my own and stay true to myself. What is it I truly desire? I should actually be making decisions on my own, trust my own instincts. At the end of the day, I have to live with it. It is easy to ask others to answer for you but was I really taking responsibility!
I now make all my own decisions. Trust your inner “you”. The habit of existing is not making you feel uncomfortable, not allowing you to grow. By feeling anxious, excited, these emotions I feel allow me to realize I am ALIVE. Perhaps you feel a little unsure. See what happens when you make a decision. I found that I feel relief after making the decision.
A tip I recommend to help take little steps toward making big decisions is to start right now with making decisions, not acting out of habit! We all have habits that we are not even aware of. A habit is to put your watch on your left wrist. Michael Losier author of “Law of Attraction” shared this aspect with us at a conference. He suggested you put your watch on the other wrist. Now you are breaking a habit. Every time you look at your watch you are reminded because you will look at the wrong wrist. See how this reminds you are only existing, and not making decisions. Walking the same hallways, same parking spots, are examples of all the same boring habits that make up your day. Mix things up a little. Do stuff differently. Have fun with breaking habits.
So start right now taking little steps of breaking habits and teach yourself confidence and trust in your own ability to making decisions about what it is you want. Teach yourself that life is fun and learn to feel good about yourself. Now ask yourself, "Are your habits holding yourself back from financial success?"
